Incentivise your visitors to opt-in to your email list

Today is going to be a very busy day.

We are putting the finishing touch on our product launch that officially goes public tomorrow.

To topic:

Many people in the IM world, and there are many people in the IM world, are building a list of opt-in email subscribers (opt-ins).  The truth here is that they are “trying” without much success to build their list.  I know because I have been there, one of those “trying” to build my list.

Things are different now.  I learned one of the most important things in list building — WIIFM ==> what’s in it for me?

The exact question every visitor to your website is asking either consciously or unconsciously is, “what will I get in exchange for giving up my contact information?”

Sometimes, in the eyes of the visitor, the report, the eBook, or what ever the offer that is being given away lacks enough value to get your visitor to opt-in.

The visitor is measuring value to decide whether or not they will give up their email and first name, not too much we IMs believe, but to any semi-cautious person, it’s a lot to give up!

So what can you do to prompt them to opt-in?  You can give them more value to the point where they can’t refuse to opt-in .  Just look at all the bonuses the IMs line up for you to buy a package or program from them that they are promoting.

I recently saw from a good size IM whose bounses for buying the package he was promoting included a free ticket for two to the seminar he is conducting that he is selling for $997 per person to buy a package that only costs $997.00.  It’s like buying the same seminar you are going to go to and getting the program for nothing.

It starts to make sense when you realize that people are “premium” incentivised.  What I mean is that people make decisions on what to buy or from whom based on how much extra value they can get.  An example is a customer who bases their decision to buy on a “buy one- get one free” coupon, or a “free gift when you buy this product” offer.  This is a psychological trigger that has been pounded into every consumer by all the advertising they have seen over their lifetime.

Well, here is a product that works that uses the same “premium trigger”.  It adds value so every visitor will want to give you their email address and opt-in to get the premium.

Use any advantage to build your list that you can.  Having a big list will lead you to making big money.

And isn’t that why you are in an online business?

Good luck!
